RiverRescues Animal Sanctuary is Scotland’s leading reptile and exotic pet rescue, caring for more than 100 animals at its Edinburgh base and having rescued thousands of animals since opening. The sanctuary provides a vital lifeline for reptiles, birds, tortoises, invertebrates and other exotic pets whose owners can no longer care for them.
The organisation is now facing its biggest challenge yet. Following the sale of St Margaret’s House, RiverRescues must leave its current premises by January 2027 and urgently needs to secure a suitable new home. Relocating more than 100 animals, many with complex care needs, requires significant funding, specialist facilities and landlord support.
As a not-for-profit organisation run largely by dedicated volunteers, RiverRescues is seeking support to help fund a new facility and ensure it can continue providing essential care for exotic animals across Scotland. Without the sanctuary, many animals in need would have nowhere to go. Any support to raise awareness or contribute towards their future would be greatly appreciated.
