This forum brings reps from all of the Place-based Networks in the city together.
Despite the goals of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 and the Christie Commission, Edinburgh has seen a limited increase in public involvement and decentralised decision-making around community planning.
Structures still primarily focus on meeting statutory obligations within tight budget constraints, often neglecting local priorities. Without sufficient investment in participatory planning and community-led initiatives, the city risks widening inequalities and hindering its transition to a wellbeing economy.
EVOC’s role is to support this forum to work collaboratively at a strategic level and connect with community planning in the public sector.
There are a number of third sector place-based networks across the city that focus on cross sector, partnership working within more focused geographical areas, see here for more details.
