Business Case: Milestone House Intermediate Care Unit
Author: Gerry Mitchell
EVOC were commissioned by the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership to carry out this work in collaboration with members of the Milestone House Steering Group.
This business case presents evidence of key benefits of the Milestone House Intermediate Care Unit (MICU) provision, between April 2020 and October 2021. It summarises findings from interviews conducted during a recent evaluation of the service; performance data from the first 18 months of its operation and secondary literature.
Getting About Getting A Break – Phase 1
This report is Phase 1 of a review of travel and respite for adults with disabilities or additional support needs and those that care for them in light of the Covid pandemic. It has been created with support from voluntary organisations, the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership, City of Edinburgh Transport and over 100 people who took the time to contribute to an online survey.

Mind the Craic
This initiative was delivered in partnership with Volunteer Edinburgh and the Third Sector Strategy Group and researched what really works in the field of prevention and early intervention for Edinburgh’s citizens. From August to early December 2018, Virginia Bjertnes (who carried out the project) met with people from various communities around Edinburgh. Partner organisations invited her to join groups, meet individuals and hear the voices of a wide diversity of people. Interviewees ranged from 7 to 98 years old from and came from different localities across the City. They were people with and without disabilities, from various ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and nationalities. Mind the Craic relays the experience of participants and volunteers of 66 different groups and projects.
