Next month, Hibernian Community Foundation will launch Extra Time, a new programme with two key objectives:
- To offer 10hrs of free childcare per week for P1-P7s, with a focus on fun football sessions and meal provisions
- To assist parents improve their employment prospects
The programme is designed to assist children from low-income households that attend one of four primary schools: Leith, Lorne, Abbeyhill and Hermitage Park.
What’s on Offer
Up to 60 children can take part, and Hibernian Community Foundation will offer:
- A pick-up from school service on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- Week-long holiday camps in February, over Easter and the summer holidays
- Fun football sessions with qualified coaches
- Transfer to Easter Road Stadium for a two course hot meal each day
- Interactive healthy living & eating sessions + games
- Free football kit, including training shoes and winter wear
Which Households Can Participate?
Low income households may be those which are:
- lone parent families
- minority ethnic families
- families with a disabled adult or child
- families with a younger mother (under 25)
- families with a child under one
- larger families (three or more children)

Hibernian Community Foundation are devising a referral form, which they would be happy to share with you if you think some of your clients may be interested in taking part.
