If you are looking for a knitting project over autumn, the Lewy Body Society is looking for help raising awareness of Lewy body dementia, often misdiagnosed and misunderstood even by doctors although the second most type of dementia in older people.
A Scarf for Lewy was chosen so people who have caring duties can still get involved with raising awareness from home, by knitting a scarf (or two!) that can be sewn together with others from across the country to create one huge scarf that is wrapped around a landmark building.
Our previous events have wrapped a mile of scarves around the Royal Albert Hall and taken the campaign to Belfast and Manchester. Monday 19 April, 2027 will be A Scarf for Lewy’s first visit to Scotland, at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.
There are very few rules: each scarf should be 30cm, or approximately one foot, wide, but it can be any length and use any yarn, stitch, colour or pattern.
Please send completed scarves to: Mrs V Hands, C/o Ms Marie Finlinson, 4 Orchard Hill, Exeter, EX2 9ND
After the event, the scarf is dismantled and the individual scarves donated to charities that work with people at risk of or transitioning through homelessness.
Please do join in if you can – it would be great to make it the biggest and best event ever.
