Employment Support for New Scots Parents

16 October 2023 By EVOC Communications Team

A creative and engaging opportunity for New Scot Parents in Edinburgh to prepare for future employment no matter how far they currently feel from the job market.

The project provides the opportunity to attend one of the following group workshops as an introduction to the more personalised 1:1 sessions. 1:1 and group sessions are trauma informed, engaging and tailored to each individuals needs.
(For those closer to the labour market, specific support to engage in securing work and volunteering placements and in-work support can also be made available).

Workshop 1: CHANGE YOUR MIND

This workshop is designed for New Scots Parents considering entering the ‘job market’ further into the future.

Life events and circumstances can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stuck.
CHANGE YOUR MIND can teach participants to:

  • develop positive thinking patterns about themselves
  • manage debilitating emotions and behaviour
  • begin a journey of self-discovery that allows them to set goals for the future

Workshop 2: SAFE ROUTES TO EMPLOYMENT

This workshop is designed for New Scots considering entrance into the ‘job market’.

The journey into employment can be daunting.
SAFE ROUTES TO EMPLOYMENT can teach participants to:

  • know their employment rights
  • avoid exploitation
  • sustain and find fulfilment through work
