This year’s EVOC AGM & Conference took place on Tuesday 10th November at the Hibernian Stadium. The theme: “Yes We Can: Building on What works” focussed on examples of good practice, and the importance of collaboration, evaluation and keeping things local.
Our first speaker Mike Stevenson is well versed in the powers of possibility. His keynote speech highlighted the need to use language that is inclusive, creates excitement, and doesn’t make people feel powerless. He also stated that a focus on resourcefulness and not resources was needed.
Our second keynote speaker was Kara Whelan of the Craigmillar Books for Babies project. Kara outlined the success of the project – which has a successful seventeen year track record of partnership working across health visiting teams, the local library and early years settings – emphasised the need for strong, regular evaluation in order to “tell our story, strengthen the case for funding and demonstrate the difference made/learning “
