Fifty per cent of carers have been forced to cut back on essentials such as food and heating, and are just surviving. Seventeen years on from the 2009 Carers Poverty protest in Edinburgh – despite significant legislative and policy changes – the dial has not shifted on carer poverty.
The event will include carers, practitioners and support organisations. The programme, shaped by carers’ experiences, will feature:
– Examples of current issues and good practice from across the sector
– Group discussion on key issues and policy context
– Lived experience contributions from carers
– A marketplace for carers offering advice on financial wellbeing (including benefits, energy, and access to mobility equipment)
Come together with carers and organisations to discuss concerns about carer poverty and identify solutions for the future.
