Children’s Health Scotland offer FREE Self-Management Skills (SMS) Programmes to children and young people in Scotland aged 9-18 who are living with a health condition or concern.
Their programmes:
- Run for 6 weeks
- Offer support and learning about Self-Management Skills
- Take place in-person SMS:FACE TO FACE and online SMS:CONNECT
‘It’s been one of the best things I’ve done. It’s helped me a lot and I would say to anyone that they should try it because you’ll make a lot of friends and learn a lot.’ 10 year old
Young people will learn all about confidence, improving self esteem, health rights, health & wellbeing as well as friendships. Those who take part in a SMS Programme are then able to join the SMS:HUB – a free group that meets once a month.
The programmes aren’t condition specific and young people don’t need a formal diagnosis.
The next SMS:FACE TO FACE Programme begins on Sat 2 Sep 2023 (6 weeks) at the Eric Liddell Centre, Morningside.
Enquiries are open to everyone and part of the referral process includes a discussion on the needs of the child or young person.
