If you work with adults with disabilities, you might like to share information about the new rule that requires voters to show photo ID when they vote at polling stations. This only applies to UK General Elections. People will not need photo ID for Scottish Parliament elections or local council elections.
The Council has a helpful page on their website with information about the what photo IDs can be used. You will also find links on that webpage to information in other formats such as BSL, Braille, easy read and plain text.
Most people already have a valid photo ID that can be used for voting in the next UK General Election. This includes:
• UK passport
• UK driving licence
• Blue badge
• NEC concessionary bus pass
• Identity card with PASS mark for example a Young Scot Card.
People can still use some photo IDs even if they are out-of-date, as long as the photo still looks like you. People can also apply for a free voter ID. For more details.
