Edinburgh’s city centre low emission zone (LEZ) be enforced on 1 June.
This means that the Council will start monitoring vehicles driving through the zone and issuing fines (penalty charge notices) to vehicles that don’t meet the standards.
Organisations can check if their vehicles meet the emission starts using the online checker. If organisations have staff or volunteers who use their own vehicles, please share the information.
Remember too that there are national exemptions for some vehicles including vehicles for people with disabilities and for people who have Blue Badges if their vehicles don’t meet the standards. Applications for exemptions must be made online before enforcing starts. Motorbikes and mopeds are also exempt.

Dundee also starts enforcing on 31 May and Aberdeen on 1 June. Glasgow started enforcing their LEZ in 2023.
