NHS Lothian is seeking proposals to deliver a programme of work which aims to address the issue of unequal participation rates in physical activity in line with the draft Physical Activity and Sport Strategy for Edinburgh 2024-2034. The programme of work will work towards the outcome of increased physical activity participation in Edinburgh, by focusing on increasing participation in underrepresented groups.
2 proposals will be selected targeting those with high levels of need including:
- having low levels of physical activity and
- being at higher risk of poorer health outcomes and
- facing barriers to accessing existing physical activity opportunities in the city, for example barriers due to cost, stigma or lack of local opportunities focussing on those who would not be able to access existing physical activity opportunities in the city without support to do so.
One proposal will be targeted to adults and one proposal will be targeted to children and young people aged 11-18 years, 11-25 years if care experienced.
The funding will be for a period of 1 year 9 months, issuing two tenders of £30,409.45 for the first 9 months and £40,545.93pa thereafter (2025-27) The anticipated contract start date is 1st July 2025.
