The Older People’s Service Providers Forum (details of meetings and papers here) is supported and serviced by EVOC in order that voluntary sector providers of services to older people in Edinburgh have a means to share issues of concern, to address those issues and to promote the interests of the members and services for older people they provide.

The membership is currently around seventy agencies who operate mostly at a local level in their communities. Attendance is open to any local community or voluntary organisation providing services for older people in the Edinburgh area. The Forum meets every two months, to discuss contemporary issues in a supportive environment.
The Forum also has a number of representative functions (A paper listing the current work is available here). Partnership issues and joint working feature high on the agenda and when appropriate, Health & Social Care Partnership officers are invited to attend. Topics of relevance such as legislative change, current practice and policy matters typically form the agenda.
In recent times, the Forum has taken a lead on research into voluntary sector day service provision in Edinburgh, which helped inform Council service commissioning and has contributed to designing elements of the Change Fund and the older people’s element of the continuing Integrated Care Fund.
