Localities

What are Localities?
Edinburgh is divided in to four geographical areas or localities – North West, North East, South West and South East. These four operational management areas are common to the Council and its key partners – Police Scotland, NHS Lothian, Fire and Rescue Service, Edinburgh College and the Third Sector. Each area has its own priorities and delivers improved services for communities. Locality Committees have powers over community safety, lifelong learning and libraries, traffic management, roads and parking, parks and green space, street cleaning and open space maintenance and public realm projects on a local basis.

The Localities Directory provides key contacts in the Locality teams along with other important local contacts in the Council services. It also provides  lead contacts in each locality for all of strategic partners.

Locality Community Planning Partnership
EVOC and the VSF chairs attend the Locality Community Planning Partnership (LCPP) meetings to represent the Third Sector. Other key strategic partners include City of Edinburgh Council, Police Scotland, Fire and Rescue Service and NHS Lothian. There is one LCPP for each of the 4 localities and they meet quarterly.
