Communities to Benefit From 1st Stage of Mental Health Funding

2 March 2022 By EVOC Comms

We are delighted to announce the first wave of investment from the Scottish Government Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund in Edinburgh.

Fourteen groups and organisations have been awarded small pots of funding, totalling just over £26,000, to deliver grass-roots activities in communities across the City. The rest of the £1.255 million investment will be distributed by Thursday 31 March 2022 with more details to follow.

Bridie Ashrowan, EVOC Chief Executive commented:

‘With all the time and energy being committed by the groups and organisations who submitted an expression of interest to this fund, and our key partners across the City, it is really exciting to be at a point where we can distribute some of this Scottish Government investment – with the rest to follow by the end of this month. With people and communities in Edinburgh facing additional hardships this year, it is even more important that we work together to find ways to offer mental health support at a grass-roots community level.’

Funds have been awarded to the following groups and organisations:

  • Bridgend Farmhouse
  • Caledonia Cremation (Affordable Cremations Scotland CIC)
  • Edinburgh Mad Jam Open Mic
  • Edinburgh South Community Football Club
  • Forth Bridges Men’s Shed (FBMS)
  • Forth Canoe Club
  • Gorgie Collective
  • James Carter (with CAPS Independent Advocacy)
  • NCT National Childbirth Trust, Edinburgh branch
  • Newhaven Heritage Community Garden
  • Oxgangs Walking Group
  • The Junction Young People Health and Wellbeing
  • The Scottish Storytelling Forum
  • Workplace Chaplaincy Scotland
