I sit in an open plan office and I have learned the art of zoning in and out of conversations as they happen around me. This morning’s topics have ranged from the impact of personalisation and integration of adult health and social care on the sector, the ‘joy’ of a new phone, managing change training courses, and how to fight colds and sniffles.
But the one topic we keep coming back to is “how long can we keep doing more with less?” As the deadline for grant applications looms on the horizon many of us are yet again looking to March 2013 and wondering what the new financial year will hold. We have adjusted, coped and managed ‘stand still’ income for several years; we have innovated, fine tuned, bended and amended how we work with people. As someone recently said to me, “every penny is a prisoner.”
Our job at EVOC is to collect, collate and analyse information and use it to advocate on behalf of the sector. To help us to help you, we need you to fill out this financial survey. It will only take a few precious minutes but collectively we can demonstrate the impact of the current financial situation on our ability to work with vulnerable people. The results of the survey will be presented at our AGM on Tuesday 20th November.
Our AGM will also be your opportunity to directly question Councillor Andrew Burns, Leader of the Council, on the City’s budget proposals. He has made a commitment to publish a draft Council budget and have an extended consultation period. The first of those conversations will be at our AGM.
So it is important that you fill out the survey, and that you come and be heard at our AGM.
