#SideBySideEdin

#SideBySideEdin is a campaign showing how Edinburgh’s charities work with Children, Young People & Families across the city.

In the campaign we share what children, young people and families have told us about their experiences.

We hear that Edinburgh’s charities provide amazing support and that they change lives every day. To make this happen, charities work side by side with all public services in the City.

#SideBySideEdin explains the distinctive contribution charities make to the Edinburgh Children’s Services Partnership.

What does this contribution from Edinburgh’s charities look like? This is what children, young people and families said it looked like:

  • Kindness and understanding
  • Trust and relationships
  • Time and flexibility
  • A real difference

All of these things and much, much more make the work of Edinburgh charities essential for young people, children and families. Support us and spread the word with #SideBySideEdin

Shorter campaign videos: Answering the question “What does the contribution of Edinburgh’s charities look like?”

Why are we running #SideBySideEdin?

The organisations in this network – 84 charities – and the work they do is made partly possible by Edinburgh Council’s Communities and Families’ Main Grant Programme.

The purpose of this campaign is to show support and solidarity to Edinburgh’s charities who contribute to Edinburgh’s Children’s Services Partnership.

These charities and services bring local knowledge and connections to the community they work within. They also bring a high return on investment for Edinburgh Council, which you can see from the statistics below.

The following statistics are taken from a survey of 22 organisations from this network currently receiving funding from the Edinburgh Council Communities & Families Grant Funding:

  • They receive a combined £1,284,865 and raise £2,845,701 more for their services from other sources
  • They support 6769 children/young people, 470 parents and 1,840 families

The Mission of #SideBySideEdin:

To see an Edinburgh that prioritises the vital connections that these charities make with thousands of young people and children across the city.

To see an Edinburgh that invests in the services and support that charities provide every day side by side with public services.

That is why we, as a network of children, young people and families organisations, want to show you the real impact, the real stories of those who rely on services provided by Edinburgh charities every day.

Charities provide support to children, young people and families, in partnership with all other public services. We believe that these services should be treated with equal importance – Side By Side.

How Can You Support Us?

Share the videos, spread the message, via social media, email or word of mouth.

Get involved on social media, tell us your experience of Edinburgh’s charities and the work that they do, we’d love to hear them.

Please get in contact with our Communications team if you would like a press release or additional text, photos or videos.
