SUNE aims to improve the effectiveness and maximise the contribution of Edinburgh’s voluntary sector to the planning and delivery of services and activities for tackling issues around drug and alcohol use.
SUNE seeks to encourage and enable communication, participation and co-operation between voluntary organisations, as well as with its partners – most notably the Edinburgh Alcohol Drug Partnership (EADP). SUNE intends to identify policy gaps, promote good practice and raise the profile of relevant issues from a voluntary sector perspective. It also intends to proactively inform and contribute to policy development and service provision, both locally and nationally.
SUNE invites members from voluntary, community or non-profit organisations that are working in Edinburgh and wishing to promote its aims.
EVOC is grant funded to facilitate and deliver the aims of SUNE, with support from a Development Officer who acts as the hub of all SUNE business.
The operation of SUNE is underpinned by some key principles:
- Openness and inclusivity
- Peer support
- SUNE representatives who are truly representative of the sector
- Effective and efficient communication.
SUNE Chair
Adele Hill of Access to Industry is currently chair of SUNE.
Meetings
SUNE members can participate in information exchange, consultations and networking at SUNE meetings which take place quarterly.
