Monthly Just Transition Co-labs
Dr Shelly-Ann Brown
We are pleased to introduce Dr. Shelly-Ann Brown, who has taken over from Charlie as our new Climate Forum Coordinator. With a background in Economics, Shelly-Ann is enthusiastic about tailoring the role to meet the evolving needs of Edinburgh’s community and voluntary Sector.
Currently, Shelly-Ann is in the process of establishing three Edinburgh Just Transition Co-labs. These platforms will bring together community, voluntary, and third sector organisations, emphasising collaborative efforts through our co-lab program and other city-wide third sector initiatives. The goal is to amplify Edinburgh’s community impact, driving us towards a carbon-zero city by 2030 and supporting our Community Wealth Building agenda — benefiting both your organisation and the communities you serve.
These co-lab meetings, scheduled monthly, will run for approximately 2 hours, offering a blend of online and in-person interactions. Understanding busy schedules, participants are welcome to drop in at any time. Over the next 12 months, the co-labs will delve into:

- The Circular Economy: Emphasising Community-based waste management ownership.
- Living Locally (20-minute neighbourhood): Focusing on Community ownership of public assets and service mapping.
- Spaces for Nature: Supporting communities in connecting with nature and optimising land use to enrich beauty, heritage, and natural environment engagement.

- Foster collective change and co-production.
- Facilitate joint funding applications.
- Provide updates on available support and resources.
- Offer targeted organisational development assistance.
- Cultivate a unified voice and stronger influence in the city.
