We are currently recruiting organisations to work together to develop additional support for those who might be at risk of hospitalisation during the winter – or who might need a little extra support to return home when demand is particularly high on NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership services.
Last year, EVOC facilitated a small group of organisations to come together to offer a third sector response to pressures brought about by additional demand upon the NHS during winter. This was initially framed as a response to colder, darker days; slips and falls and social isolation – all of which can draw additional demand upon NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership but which, in many cases, is avoidable – but ultimately much of the support in the later part of the programme was targeted to those who had been impacted by Covid-19.
We have been asked now to bring together another proposal for winter this year. Unfortunately, this is on a very tight turn around so please contact me directly for further information and to register your interest by 6 July 2020.
Obviously, one of the main concerns this year will be the potential of a second Covid-19 wave. The work that is currently being carried out through the Food Fund and through volunteer support for vulnerable people has offered a significant amount of learning which we are beginning to document and will be able to share to ensure that people can receive the support they need but we are really keen to hear everybody’s ideas for how to support people in the event of a second wave.
