Investment For Community-Based Adult Learning in Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s Third Sector Interface (TSI) – a partnership between EVOC, Volunteer Edinburgh and Edinburgh Social Enterprise – has been awarded £112,000 from the Scottish Government to invest in community-based adult learning opportunities. This is to help address barriers to learning resulting from the impacts of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Working with the Edinburgh CLD Partnership, we have agreed four priority learning themes and activities – these are linked to the Edinburgh CLD Plan objectives. (see table below)

This investment must be spent and the activities delivered by 31 March 2022.

1. Digital inclusion
  • Enabling better access to and use of IT equipment.
  • Improving access to and use of the internet.
  • Improving digital skills.

2. Working with BAME communities
  • Raising awareness of local learning opportunities.
  • Beginners’ ESOL as outreach.

£30,000

3. Improving access to chilcare
  • Funds to pay for formal childcare/child-minding to enable parents and carers to access learning opportunities.
  • Introduction to childcare training opportunities.
£15,000
4. Improving mental health and wellbeing
  • Courses which improve/ have a positive impact on mental health and well being
  • Training for volunteers working with people with mental health issues.
  • Improving knowledge in organisations delivering self-management support.

£40,000

SUBMIT A PROPOSAL
If your group or organisation has a track record in delivery high-quality community-based adult learning activities then we’d love you to submit a proposal.

FUNDING TIMELINE

  • Mon 13 Dec: Open for proposals
  • Wed 15 Dec: Funding Information session (and Q&A), 9.30 – 10.30am
  • Tue 21 Dec: Closing date for receipt of proposals at 10am
  • Wed 22 Dec: Panel meets to make decisions and award funding
  • Thu 23 Dec: Organisations notified
