Mark Merrell

Job Title: Senior Development Officer - Children, Young People and Families

Email Address: mark.merrell@evoc.org.uk

Phone Number: 0131 555 9100

When I joined EVOC in July 2017, I was attracted by the chance to work with partners to tackle inequality and promote human rights.  I brought experience of working with people across society to improve school and community services in Kenya, Liberia and East Timor, in addition to England and Scotland.

Over the years, my roles ranged from secondary teacher to national education manager and senior manager for international charities.  I had brilliant experiences of volunteering, for Community Service Volunteers (at a secondary school in Liverpool) and Voluntary Service Overseas (at a teacher’s centre in Kenya). As my career progressed, I developed special interests in child rights programme planning, youth participation and how family and school can work together to support the child’s learning.

As Senior Development Officer at EVOC, my job is about building relationships between the thriving Network of children, young people and families’ organisations in the city and council and NHS partners.
