The Early Years Collaborative

Ambition

To make Scotland the best place in the world to grow up by improving outcomes and reducing inequalities for all babies, children, mothers, fathers and families across Scotland to ensure that all children have the best start in life and are ready to succeed. The Early Years Collaborative helps organisations to close the gap between what we know works and what we do, by:

  • Creating a structure in which partners are able to learn from each other and from recognised experts in the area in which they wish to make improvements
  • Supporting the application of tried and tested improvement methodology

In Edinburgh the Early Years Collaborative consists of a multi-agency team working together to meet the stretch aims identified by the Scottish Government

Workstream 1

To reduce by 15% the rates of stillbirth and infant mortality by 2015

Workstream 2

85% of all children within each CPP have reached all of the expected developmental milestones at the time of 27-30 month health review by the end of 2016.

Workstream 3

90% of all children with in each CPP have reached all of the expected developmental milestones by the time the child starts primary school, by end of 2017.

Workstream 4

To ensure that 90% of all children within each CPP have reached all of the expected developmental and learning milestones by the end of 2020.

Workstream 5

Multi-agency Leadership Group

EVOC’s Network of Organisations Working with Children, Young People and Families fields a representative to each of Workstream Groups, ensuring that the Voluntary Sector makes a significant contribution to the work of the Collaborative.
