New projects for ethnic minority families: Capital City Partnership (CCP) has recently launched a new strategy called Joined Up for Families. Part of this new work will be the Whole Family Equality Project, which has a particular focus on ethnic minority communities across Edinburgh. The project will encompass a range of work including a holistic family support service, and employability support for ethnic minority young people. They will have more information about how to access this service and refer people to it this July.
Citizens’ Panel opportunity
An important element of the Whole Family Equality Project is that they are putting together a Citizens’ Panel to co-direct the work. The panel will be chaired by Viana Maya, CEO and Founder of Prespect. They are looking for 20 – 25 individuals from ethnic minority communities to take part. Participants should be willing and able to share their views and experiences of poverty and inequality.
The group will meet once a month for the first six months, and several times after that. The plan is to kick off around August 2022, and to meet over a meal each time. The group will help to direct the new family support project as well as feeding their knowledge and experiences of poverty and inequality into decision making groups in Edinburgh. For those individuals involved in the group, payment and expenses will be offered as appropriate to circumstances.
Applicants need to complete a short application form, and applications will close on Friday 1 July 2022 at 5pm.
