The Children, Young People and Families Practice Action Group

The Children, Young People and Families Practice Action Group (the PAG) is a group of services offering support to families in Edinburgh. This peer-support model aims to create a forum where practitioners can come together to share best practice, develop partnerships and joint working and to share resources and information. The Practice Action Group will take its lead from conversations and ideas shared within The Network and other groups; providing a space for action to be taken, based on these ideas. As a result, the specific areas of work will evolve continuously.

The Chair of the group will work closely with the Chair of The Network and EVOC staff to ensure that work taken forward by the practice group is reported back to The Network. The good practice and learning will be taken forward to a wider number of strategic groups across the City, including feeding in to the Strategic Outcome Groups within the Children’s Partnership. The diagram below demonstrates the relationship between the Network and the Practice Action Group (PAG).

The current focus of the Practice Group is family support and parenting, with work on shared volunteer training still ongoing. Once the learning from this multi-agency partnership working has been drawn together, new areas of work will be considered for the group. If you would like to suggest a topic, please get in touch!

This group started life as the Children in Need Network, which was established by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Family Support Service and involved a number of Third Sector organisations who deliver family support services. In its new guise, membership of the group is open to any service or organisation and their practitioners working with families in Edinburgh who are interested in jointly developing best practice and opportunities.
