Course Description

One of the most common comments we hear when working with staff on support and supervision is that it has become very task focused. The balance of the process has gone out of kilter.

During this half day course we will shine the light on all of the functions of support and supervision, looking at it as a dynamic process that both challenges and supports staff to do their best work and be their best at work.

During the session we will use the 4 x 4 x 4 model to:

  • Clarify the four main functions of support and supervision and explore some of the tensions that can arise.
  • Identify who the main stakeholders are.
  • Introduce the four elements of the supervision cycle and consider how to use this cycle to promote reflective supervision and avoid over-focusing on any single function.
  • It will be particularly useful for anyone offering support and supervision who wants to review the balance and focus of the supervision they offer either at an individual or organisational and policy level.

TESTIMONIALS

“Very interesting and well-presented course.”

“A well-structured, engaging and informative session that will be of great help to me in a new supervising role.  Thank you.”
