In partnership with the Supporting The Third Sector Project, we are able to offer a FREE training opportunity for third sector organisations in Edinburgh working with or supporting children or young people. This training will support organisations to prepare for the implementation of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act.
Participants will be supported to further develop their participation work, particularly around awareness, knowledge and understanding of the UNCRC. They will also be supported to embed a child rights-based approach in their practices which contributes to effective services planning.
The offer consists of two elements. Participants will be required to commit to complete both elements and the e-learning part must be completed before they attend the online workshop.
1) Self e-learning https://childreninscotland.clcmoodle.org
Participants will be given access to a digital resource, which takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Participants can learn at their own pace and access the materials as many times as they need, as long as it is completed before the first workshops. The resource provides information about Children’s Rights and the UNCRC. It also illustrates the policy context for the incorporation of the UNCRC into Scots law. Full joining instructions will be provided.
2) Online Workshop – Thursday 26 August, 9:30am – 12:30pm approx.
A space for participants to discuss what they have learned from the module on the theory of children’s rights and the UNCRC and to reflect on what this means for their work. Participants will be invited to look at tools and resources used in participation work and share successes and challenges of engaging with children and young people. The session will also cover accessibility and inclusion.
Places are limited, so please book early to reserve your place and avoid disappointment. Also, depending on demand places might be limited to one or two people from the same organisation.
