About the course

This workshop is designed for staff involved with children, young people and adults for whom dealing with challenging behaviour is an issue in the workplace.

The workshop will cover how many service users carry negative perceptions of those they view as authority figures. We will also consider the Attitude/Behaviour Cycle and the impact of stress on thinking and behaviour. We will focus on the Assault Cycle and responsive strategies for de-escalation. The workshop will be a mixture of presentation, discussion and experiential work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Increase awareness of negative perceptions of authority
  • Develop an understanding of Attitude/Behaviour Cycle
  • Explore the impact of stress and Green/Red Zone work
  • Develop an understanding of the Assault Cycle, guiding points for intervening in challenging situations and strategies for de-escalation.

Testimonials

“The workshop has given me a range of new tools to deal with conflict and anger in the workplace.”
