thinkSpaces are an opportunity for organisations to come together to learn about and discuss relevant issues and developments in different fields the Third Sector are involved with. EVOC are proud to be running an ongoing thinkSpace programme covering the widest range of topics.
We currently have two interesting and essential thinkSpace events in our calendar. Book now to ensure your place – we look forward to seeing you.
Wednesday, 22nd June 2016, 2pm – 4pm
Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2JL
Adult protection is often highlighted within many of EVOC’s forums as an area where providers would welcome additional information, advice and support to ensure that service users, families, friends and carers are receiving the best possible care and support. Frequently, misunderstandings about the functioning of the Child and Adult Protection Committees and case conferences exist.
On 22nd June 2016 at 2pm, EVOC, in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council, will be hosting a thinkSpace event to discuss the city’s current arrangements around public (adult and child) protection within the city.
This thinkSpace is an opportunity for providers to come together with representatives on the Committee and staff from the Public Protection Team to:
- Better understand the roles and responsibilities of the Team and Committee
- Better understand the processes involved with case conferences
- Provide feedback about current arrangements
- Learn more about forthcoming training events
We will be joined by Kate Fennell and Sean Byrne of the Public Protection Team and the event will be delivered in partnership with Marion Findlay of Volunteer Edinburgh in her capacity as a representative to the Public Protection committee.

Tuesday, 28th June 2016, 10.30am– 1.30pm
European Room, Edinburgh City Chambers, 253 High St, Edinburgh EH1 1YJ
EVOC are holding a Compact thinkSpace on procurement, in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council.
The event will examine the opportunities available to those commissioning services under the new regulatory framework, and explore how a light touch procurement regime might operate. This is a complex and much debated topic, and we hope to use this event to move things forward and with your help identify positive solutions and specific actions which partners can sign up to on the day.
We have contributors lined up from Healthcare Improvement Scotland, MacRoberts LLP and the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland and will publish a detailed agenda shortly.
