Salary and Wages
In determining an appropriate pay scale for a post, as well as looking at advertisements in relevant sources for similar posts, it may be helpful to refer to an existing job evaluation and grading system. Many voluntary organisations use the same pay scales as Local Authorities – National Joint Council (NJC) or Scottish Joint Council (SJC) pay scales.
Minimum Wage
Most workers in the UK are entitled to receive at least a minimum level of pay. This is called the national minimum wage (NMW). To find out the current rates visit the Government Website using the link at the bottom of the page.
