Planning and Development
Good management or governance of your community group/organisation should begin with planning. Having a robust plan in place from the very beginning will clarify your long-term goals and sets out the path you intend to take. It will be the responsibility of your committee (or board) to translate the plan(s) into reality, bringing things in on budget and on time, using the resources specified. It will therefore be the committee’s responsibility to keep checking (monitoring) whether or not the goals are being reached. Are things following the path you set? Evaluating your progress will be beneficial because it enables the committee to take stock, learn lessons and make any necessary changes.
Effective planning and development can also be applied to project management. New projects will depend on good project management to translate their plans into reality, in the same way that any group will depend on sound governance to translate their Business Plan into reality.
