Social Media
Social media is a term used to describe social interactions through the internet, from photo sharing to blogging.
The main types of social media are:-
- social networks
- blogs and micro blogs
- photo shaping
- video sharing
- pod casts
Most social media is free to use, making these options attractive promotional tools for community groups and organisations. Each social media option will have its own comprehensive set up and help guides.
Social media is most effective if it is updated on a regular basis and your community group is prepared to interact with other social media users. There is nothing worse than social media that is set up and never used. People will quickly get bored or simply think that your group is not interested in them.
If you are planning to use social media, make sure that you have the time to devote to it, and establish a schedule for updating to ensure your information is current.
