Older People Deciding on Grants for Older People
An inclusive process with the principles of co-production and resilience at its heart
As part of Edinburgh’s ‘Reshaping Care for Older People – Change Fund’ EVOC is running a unique Participatory Budgeting (PB) project where Older People themselves make decisions on small grants for work with, by and for older people.
PB is an inclusive process where people are supported to assess grant proposals and make considered decisions on how a pot of money is spent.
“Our Voice is Being Heard at Last”
We are delighted that so many successful groups were able to attend our Celebration Event on Thursday 30 January. Thirty seven groups came along to the City Chambers where Cllr Maureen Child & Cllr Ricky Henderson recognised their effort and congratulated them on their brilliant work. EVOC Director, Ella Simpson, said “we came to celebrate all the work done and to thank you all. This kind of grass roots work in the community makes a huge difference to the lives of Older People and I am delighted to take this time to recognise your contribution. This is one of the most exciting pieces of work EVOC has been involved in”.
Our Canny wi’ Cash Report “Our Voice is Being Heard at Last” is now available to download.
In order to reach out to a wider audience, the team has now produced a graphic novel which provides an easy, accessible introduction to the Canny wi’ Cash PB project. The Joint Improvement Team has published a resource which includes this section on Canny wi’ Cash.
We will be in touch with a selection of successful groups to gather information for our Evaluation Report.
