Introduction
The West Edinburgh Voluntary Sector Forum exists to support and strengthen
the service-delivery voluntary sector in West Edinburgh (covering the
areas of Longstone, Sighthill, Parkhead, Broomhouse and Wester Hailes).
The Forum is supported by a (part-time) Development Worker employed
by EVOC and based in West Edinburgh. The worker provides development
support to the Forum, to the Forum's Chair - who is elected to be the
Voluntary Sector Representative on the West Edinburgh Community Planning
Partnership Board, and - more generally - to the voluntary sector.
The West Edinburgh Community Planning Partnership and the South West
Edinburgh Local Health Care Cooperative jointly fund the Development
Worker post, designed to: support the Forum's aims to 'promote participation',
'promote partnership working', 'provide a voice for the sector', and
to 'identify needs of voluntary organisations and gaps in service provision'
within West Edinburgh.
