Freedom of Information and Data Protection Day
This is the second of two separate training events running across a single day, designed to give voluntary organisations an understanding of their rights and responsibilities under these two important pieces of legislation.
Whether it’s understanding your organisations obligations under data protection, or exploring the opportunities that freedom of information can provide in accessing important information from others, these events should have some important learning for everyone. Delegates are free to attend one, or both event.
Freedom of Information session
Scotland’s public bodies have a huge range of information which can be used by voluntary organisations, and Freedom of Information (FOI) gives you the right to get it.
FOI should be part of every voluntary organisation’s toolkit.
It can help you access:
- facts to support your campaigning activity
- statistics to inform your research
- data to support tender submissions
- detail to inform grant applications
- information to help your clients.
This workshop will give you hints, tips, examples and advice to help you make the most of your right to know.
“This has sparked some ideas on how we can use FOI in the future. I’m going back to my team to discuss my ideas!”
“Excellent course, well presented and informative”.
“An excellent course and I’m very glad I came”.
