The session will cover equality and discrimination law, in particular direct and indirect discrimination, bullying and harassment, victimisation and include a focus of disability discrimination. We will also look at family friendly rights such as flexible working requests and how to manage them in the workplace, maternity and paternity leave and shared parental leave.
About the Trainer:
Sophie Macphail, Employment Solicitor at Law at Work
Following the completion of an MA in history, Sophie took her keen interest of problem solving and analysing evidence to the study of law and completed her LLB at the University of Glasgow in 2009. After spending some time travelling and working for a human rights charity, she returned to Scotland to undergo her legal traineeship at a national law firm in 2012, qualifying in 2014. Sophie joined LAW in 2016 having gained experience of working with a wide variety of clients including large corporations, small business, charities, housing associations and individuals. She has a keen interest in disciplinary issues, business re-organisations and absence management.
