News Item from EVOC 27 September 2005 LAUNCH OF THE EDINBURGH COMPACT MONTH OF SEMINARS The Compact Partnership invites you to participate in a series of engaging seminars through November and December 2005, which focus on relating and further developing this shared action. The Edinburgh Compact seminar series commences 15 November and will embrace issues such as the emergent CHP structures, a strategy for city-wide volunteering and challenges within current funding with a view to identifying new directions. Other issues explored through these dedicated seminars include, the relationship between the police and the third sector, and the overall impact of the compact tool. It will also serve as a platform to launch a new Social Enterprise Strategy for the city and to report on the progress made by the Edinburgh Compact in its first year. News Item from Third Force News 17 December 2004 LAUNCH OF THE EDINBURGH COMPACT
The Edinburgh Compact - joint agency strategy between public agencies and the voluntary and community sector in the city - was formally launched on 10 th December. The Compact Partnership is made up of NHS Lothian, Communities Scotland, Edinburgh City Council, Scottish Enterprise, Lothian and Borders Police, Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations' Council and various other voluntary and community sector interests. EVOC's community planning officer, Sallie Anderson, told TFN: "The launch marks the beginning of a journey which, in order for the strategy to succeed and be of true benefit to the wider community of Edinburgh, requires continued commitment from all those involved. "The Edinburgh Compact is breaking new ground in terms of partnership working and the commitment to bring about real and sustained improvements in the way partnership working is conducted, is gathering momentum. "The timetable for action is laid out in the new strategy which is available on the EVOC website - www.evoc.org.uk and 2005 will see the development and publication by the partnership of key strategies including social enterprise, volunteering and funding." *TFN will carry a feature on the new Compact in the new year.
