About EVOC

Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council – EVOC – is a resource for the voluntary sector and sited within it. It is a local organisation, which helps to support, develop and promote the interests and work of voluntary and community organisations in Edinburgh. The organisation works with local activity and initiatives, links up the sector, and promotes linking up and joint working across sectors.

As a Council for Voluntary Service (CVS), EVOC acts as an advocate for the agendas of the voluntary and community sector, and promotes its role in delivering services. Through our work we aim to:

  • Meet the needs for a strong, vibrant voluntary and community sector
  • Build up the capacity of the sector
  • Work in liaison within the voluntary and community sector and the public and business sectors
  • Promote equality of access to our services and promote best practice.

EVOC is one of 58 Councils of Voluntary Service which make up the CVS Network in Scoland. This network covers every local authority area in Scotland, providing services in urban, rural and island settings. Names of CVS’ across the country differ, however, their purposes and values are shared.
